WACO, Texas ? The 20th-ranked Iowa State women's basketball team hit 10 three-pointers in the second half, but the Cyclone comeback fell short as No. 5 Baylor knocked off ISU 68-57 Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center.
The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak by the Cyclones (13-3; 1-1) and extended the Baylor (14-1; 2-0) winning streak to eight.

“I felt that if we could defend them in the half court and we could hit some shots (in the second half) we could get back in the game,” ISU head coach Bill Fennelly said. “I was very pleased with our effort in the second half.”
The Cyclones trailed 32-15 at the break after shooting a dismal 18.2 percent from the field and committing 12 turnovers. No Cyclone had more than one field goal at the break. Iowa State committed 11 first-half fouls, including two each by four post players. Twelve of Baylor's 32 points in the half came from the charity stripe.
The half started well as Ezell hit a trey on ISU's first possession and the Cyclone defense forced Baylor into four turnovers and held the Lady Bears to just one field goal in their first six tries. Nicky Wieben scored to give ISU a 9-5 lead with 13:24 to go, but the Cyclones proceeded to go six and a half minutes without a score while BU got out to a 17-9 lead.
After Alison Lacey scored to cut the margin to six, 17-11, Baylor scored seven straight points from the free throw line for a 24-11 lead. The Lady Bears hit a pair of treys to close out the half on a 6-0 run for the 17-point halftime lead.
Iowa State came out of the break on fire, as it hit four straight treys, including two by Bolte, to cut the Baylor lead to nine, 36-27. Baylor responded with a 17-4 run, including a pair of treys by Jessica Morrow, to stretch the lead to 21, 52-31. The Cyclones warmed back up from three-point range, as they hit four treys, including two more by Bolte and one by Wieben. With the three-point barrage, ISU was able to cut the margin to 11, 54-43, with eight minutes to play.
Ezell knocked down a trey to cut the margin further to nine, 57-48, before Baylor scored five straight points. Bolte hit her sixth three-pointer of the contest to make it an 11-point game, 62-51, but Baylor scored when it had to down the stretch to hold off any Cyclone comeback.
The Cyclones will remain on the road, traveling to Kansas State next on the Big 12 Conference slate. Iowa State will take on the 17th-ranked Wildcats at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum.
