This week Megan Barnes writes the latest edition of CYber CYd for the gymnastics team. The Salt Lake City, Utah native looks back on last week's meet and ahead to Friday's home matchup with No. 16 Nebraska. Come back next Thursday when Jacquelyn Holmes writes the latest CYber CYd.
Hey Cyclone fans,
First off, I want to say thank you to all of you who made it out to our first meet Friday. We loved being out in front of our home crowd again. It was great to get back into the swing of competition season. The first meet is always good for getting used to the competition jitters and taking in the whole environment.
Our meet started out a bit shaky on vault and bars, but I was so proud of how the team pulled it all together on beam. We hit a solid six-for-six routines and have found ourselves ranked in the top-ten nationally on beam. We moved to floor and did a great job again of showing off all our hard work. I hope all of you who made it to the meet enjoyed our floor routines. We love performing for you. Anna (Robey) did a great floor routine starting her year off with a 9.800 and
Jasmine (Thompson) also did a good job on floor holding down our anchor spot. I also want to point out that our freshmen did an amazing job in their college debut. One of my favorite moments of the meet was after Celine (Paulus) did her floor routine she came off the floor with a huge smile and said, "That was so fun!" I think she got it completely right, college gymnastics is so fun.
Since the meet, we started back to school and got back in the gym to work out some kinks. We have worked really hard this week and are ready to take on the Huskers. I hope to see all of you there; it's going to be a great show. We host the Nebraska Cornhuskers Friday at 7 pm.
Stay warm out there Cyclone fans!
