BOULDER, Colo. ? The Iowa State tennis team fell to 53rd-ranked Colorado 6-1 Friday. The Cyclones are now 10-11 overall this season and 1-9 in the Big 12.
In singles play, Cyclone sophomore, Erin Karonis defeated Buffalo Melisa Esposito, 7-5, 6-2. With the win, Karonis improved to 14-5 in singles action this season.
Iowa State freshmen Maria Fernanda Macedo and Marie-Christine Chartier recorded a doubles win over Colorado's Franziska Jendrian and Ania Anuszkiewicz, 8-5, at the No. 2 slot.
“We completed very well,” said Iowa State head coach Armando Espinosa. “They wanted it more than we did in a few matches, and we could not capitalize in the few opportunities that we had.”
