- Six players scored nine points or more against the Mavericks, led by freshman Kelsey Harris' 15 points. Harris drilled 5-of-6 from behind the arc in her first game at Hilton Coliseum. Lauren Mansfield posted a solid all-around performance, tallying 10 points to go along with seven assists and four steals. Amanda Zimmerman was also in double figures with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Zimmerman scored all of her points and grabbed six rebounds in the second half.
- The Cyclones shot 54.4 percent (31-57) from the field and 54.2 percent (13-24) from behind the arc against the Mavericks.
- MSU shot 44 percent in the opening stanza, but just 35.2 percent for the game after the ISU defense held it to a 27.6 percent clip in the second half.
- ISU converted 14 Minnesota State turnovers into 26 points.
- Every Iowa State newcomer hit their first shots in Thursday night's game and the five players combined for 37 points on 13-20 shooting from the field (65 percent).
- The Cyclones enter the season with an overall record of 569-502 (.531). The 2010-11 season marks the 16th of the Bill Fennelly era. The Cyclones are 332-149 (.690) since Fennelly's arrival in 1996. Fennelly is 498-202 in his head coaching career, which began at Toledo in 1988.
- Iowa State has won 49 straight regular-season non-conference contests at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones have not lost a regular-season non-conference game at home since the 2003-04 season (Washington).
