AMES, Iowa - The Cyclones suffered their third consecutive loss on Wednesday night, falling 92-83 to Texas Tech at Hilton Coliseum. The loss drops Iowa State to 14-7 on the season and 1-5 in Big 12 play. Texas Tech improves to 10-11 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
Guard Diante Garrett, Iowa State's leading scorer, posted his sixth game with at least 20 points, finishing with 27 on the night while shooting 45.8 percent (11-of-24) from the field.
Senior Jake Anderson recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds and Jamie Vanderbeken scored 13 points despite not connecting on any of his four attempts from 3-point land.
For the second-straight game, the Cyclones struggled from 3-point range, sinking their only trey of the first half on a shot by Scott Christopherson with 1:07 left on the clock. Long-range buckets continued to elude the team in the second half Iowa State ended the night with a season-low four baskets from beyond the arc.
There was no lacking in offense for the Red Raiders, whose five starters each scored in double figures, led by forward Mike Singletary who finished with 33 points and added 10 rebounds.
The Cyclones climbed to within four of the Red Raiders at halftime, down 37-33 after trailing by as many as 11 earlier in the half. Singletary paced all players with 19 after the first 20 minutes while Garrett had 12 for Iowa State.
On Saturday, Iowa State plays host Oklahoma in the Coaches vs. Cancer game at 8 p.m. CT at Hilton Coliseum.
