Iowa State?s Shealy is Big 12 Gymnast of the Week

AMES, Iowa—Iowa State freshman gymnast Michelle Shealy was named the Big 12 Conference Gymnast of the Week Tuesday, the league offices announced. Shealy has now earned three weekly Big 12 honors this season.
Shealy earned the award after winning her third-straight all-around title Friday against No. 5 Oklahoma with a career-best score of 39.150. The Snellville, Ga., native also delivered career-best tallies on floor (9.875) and vault (9.775) at the meet.
Shealy is currently ranked 15th nationally on beam. She earned Big 12 Newcomer-of-the-Week honors on Jan. 11 and Feb. 1.
Shealy becomes the second Cyclone to earn the Big 12 Gymnast-of-the-Week award in 2011, as teammate Michelle Browning earned the honor on Jan. 11. Shealy is the first freshman to earn the honor this season.
