McKellar and Shealy Earn Weekly Big 12 Gymnastics Awards

AMES, Iowa?Iowa State gymnasts Jody McKellar and Michelle Shealy earned Big 12 Conference weekly awards the league offices announced Tuesday. McKellar was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week, and Shealy was tabbed the newcomer of the week.
McKellar, a senior, earned the event specialist of the week honor for the second time this season. The Calgary, Alberta, native took the honor after scoring 9.95 on bars in Iowa State's win over Iowa Friday night. McKellar's 9.95 score on bars tied her for the highest tally on the apparatus in Iowa State gymnastics history.
Shealy is the newcomer of the week for the third time in her freshman campaign. Shealy was also named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 15. The Snellville, Ga., native posted a career-high and team-best 9.900 on beam in the Cyclones' win over Iowa Friday. Shealy is the highest -ranked freshman in the country in the all-around at No. 15.
