AMES, Iowa?For the third time this season, Iowa State junior gymnast Michelle Browning was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.
Browning, the Big 12's highest rated all-around competitor, earned the honor after winning the all-around title at Nebraska on Sunday. Browning's all-around score of 39.225 was just .025 off her season-high tally.
Browning was questionable heading into the meet against Nebraska after having been ill all day in Lincoln. The Cyclone coaching staff did not put her into the Iowa State lineups until after warm-ups had concluded.
The Houston, Texas, native earned the award for the second consecutive week. She was also named the league's top gymnast on Jan. 11 this season.
