AMES, Iowa - The 2012 schedule will offer the Iowa State gymnasts many chances to prove themselves, as the Cyclones face a slate that will surely force them to compete at the highest level.
The Cyclones continue their traditional home-and-away matchups with Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska in 2012. Iowa State will also invite Southeast Missouri State to Hilton Coliseum on Feb. 20 for the first time in program history to round out the upcoming season's home slate.
In addition to traveling to Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska, the Cyclones face daunting tests on the road that include Missouri (Jan. 8), Denver (Feb. 4) and Oklahoma (Feb. 10). The Oklahoma contest will be held in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the Cox Center. The Cyclones and Sooners will also face Southeast Missouri State at the three-team "Perfect 10 Challenge."
Iowa State starts post-season action with the Big 12 Championship in Norman, Okla., on March 24 at 4 p.m. The league title will be crowned in the Lloyd Noble Center.
The road to the 2012 NCAA national title will continue with the April 7 regional competitions. This season's host schools are: Auburn, Illinois, Arkansas, North Carolina State, Utah and Washington.
A national champion will be anointed at the NCAA national championships that are from April 20-22 in Duluth, Ga., at the Gwinnett Center.
Iowa State returns a squad that includes the 2011 Big 12 Gymnast of the Year Michelle Browning and the league newcomer of the year Michelle Shealy. Shealy represented Iowa State at the NCAA national championships in the all-around.
