AKRON, Ohio – The Iowa State men's golf team wrapped up competition at the Firestone Invitational, Tuesday. The Cyclones finished 10th with a final-round 303, bringing their tournament tally to 593 (290-303). Ball State placed first in the team competition, carding a 569 (282-287). The Cardinals finished 13 strokes ahead of second place St. Mary's.
Sophomore
Sam Daley led the Cyclone effort, carding a 73 in today's action. Daley finished in a tie for 12th place at 145 (72-73).
Sean Bosdosh of Maryland won the individual title at 5-under.
Iowa State played without its top golfer,
Scott Fernandez, for the second consecutive tournament. Fernandez tied for 13th as an individual at the World Amateur on Sunday, helping his Spanish team tie for ninth as a team.
The Cyclones return to action on Oct. 27, as the team travels to Greensboro, N.C. to compete in the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate.
