Cyclones Set to Open Season at Bulldog Classic

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State cross country team will kick off its 2012 season at the Bulldog Classic in Des Moines this Friday at 5 p.m. at Ewing Park. Cyclone head coach Corey Ihmels is eager to get the season started.
“I think both groups are really excited for what opportunities lie ahead and have done a great job over the summer and are just excited about getting going,” Ihmels said.
Iowa State is the defending Big 12 Conference women's cross country champion team.
“With the women, you get a taste of success and winning conference and regionals for the second time in a row," Ihmels said. "I think they want to come back and do those things again, and then finish it off at nationals. The men did a really good job at conference, the regional meet we ran really well through 8k, and then kind of struggled. I think you leave the course with that taste in your mouth, you want to come back and do better the next year.”
Results will be posted on cyclones.com at the conclusion of the meet.
