AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State gymnastics team learned it will continue its post season at Alabama as a part of NCAA Regional competition, its 16th-straight regional appearance. The Cyclones will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to face No. 3 Alabama, No. 9 Utah, No. 15 Denver, No. 23 Kent State and BYU on April 6 at 6 p.m. CT. in Coleman Coliseum.
Iowa State returns to Alabama, a site it is not a stranger to having NCAA Regional success. The Cyclones have placed second the last three times (2000, 2005 and 2007) they competed in Coleman Coliseum in NCAA Regional competition.
The lone team Iowa State has faced this season in its regional is Kent State. The Cyclones downed the Golden Flashes 193.625-193.575 on Jan. 11 in Hilton Coliseum
Iowa State is coming off a season-best performance, scoring 196.175 to place second at Saturday's Big 12 Championship in Hilton Coliseum.
