AMES, Iowa – Cyclone basketball is back! The Iowa State men's and women's basketball team hosted 8,175 fans in Hilton Coliseum for Hilton Madness on Saturday evening.
Fans in attendance were entertained with special messages from head men's basketball coach Fred Hoiberg and head women's basketball coach Bill Fennelly along with players Georges Niang and Brynn Williamson.
However, the most anticipated part of the event was the 3-point shooting and dunk competitions.
Kourtlin Jackson of the men's basketball team took home the top spot in the dunk competition with a one-handed dunk over Daniel Stensland. Jameel McKay finished a close second with a one-handed dunk over former men's basketball manager Jake Stoffers.
In the 3-point competition, it was a battle on the court as both the Cyclone men's and women's basketball programs are heralded for their 3-point prowess. However it was senior Brynn Williamson who took home the top honor, dominating Naz Long, 19-12.
The first chance to see the Cyclone women's basketball team on the court will be Tues. Nov. 4 as they take on the William Penn Lady Statesmen at 7 p.m. in an exhibition game. The men's basketball team will take on Viterbo in an exhibition game on Fri. Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
