AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State gymnastics team (4-9 overall, 1-1 Big 12) put up a score of 194.250, but fell their tri-meet on Saturday to No. 21 Denver (196.725) and No. 17 Boise State (195.925). Despite the losses, the Cyclones had a number of standout performers, including a career-high score from senior Milan Ivory.
Floor Exercise
Ivory was the story here, as the senior smashed her previous career-high (9.875) with a 9.925 in the anchor position for Iowa State. It was the highest score of Ivory's career, regardless of event. Caitlin Brown put up the Cyclones' second-highest score of the rotation with a 9.825. Iowa State scored 48.775 team points in their second rotation.
Balance Beam
Brown put up the Cyclones' best score of the first rotation, with a 9.8. Henrietta Green and Alex Marasco followed closely with scores of 9.75. Another highlight of the rotation was that sophomore Sammie Pearsall made her return to the beam lineup and scored a 9.7 on her first competitive routine of the year. The team score was 48.750 on beam.
Vault
Ivory and Brown led the way for Iowa State in the third rotation, with both gymnasts putting up scores of 9.825. Ivory's score of 9.825 tied a season-high for the senior. Megan McDonald followed with a score of 9.725. The Cyclones' team score on vault was a 48.750.
Uneven Parallel Bars
Camille Santerre put up another score of 9.9 in the final routine of the meet for Iowa State, her fifth score of 9.9 or higher this season. Green also tied a season-best effort with a 9.850 in the fifth slot for the Cyclones to help close meet strong. The Cyclones had a team score of 47.975 in their fourth rotation.
