AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State wrestling team (5-1, 0-0 Big 12) will take on No. 4 Virginia Tech (8-1, 1-0 ACC) at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Hilton Coliseum. The dual is a part of Beauty and the Beast, an event featuring both Iowa State's wrestling and gymnastics squads.

The Cyclones and Hokies combine to bring in 13 nationally-ranked wrestlers into the dual. For the fourth-consecutive match, Gabe Moreno will take on a ranked opponent at 149. He'll face Virginia Tech's No. 13 Sal Mastriani in his bout on Sunday. The 133 and 174-pound matches will feature two ranked wrestlers in No. 7 Earl Hall and No. 18 Kevin Norstrem at 133 and No. 11 Tanner Weatherman squaring off against No. 9 Zach Epperly at 174.
Scouting Virginia Tech
Humboldt, Iowa, native and Virginia Tech head coach Kevin Dresser will bring seven ranked wrestlers into Hilton on Sunday, five of which tout top-10 rankings. Amongst the top-10 Hokies is No. 4 Devin Carter at 141. Carter was the runner-up at last year's NCAA Championships. VT has posted several impressive victories, including a win over No. 3 Ohio State.
Also receiving national rankings are No. 4 Joey Dance (125), No. 18 Kevin Norstrem (133), No. 4 Nick Brascetta (157), No. 9 Zach Epperly (174) and No. 7 Ty Walz (285). Brascetta may sit out the dual, as he has been battling injuries this season.
Series History
* ISU and VT have wrestled in five previous duals, the Cyclones coming away victorious in each to take a 5-0 series lead.
* In their last meeting in 2012, Iowa State came out on top, 20-14.
* The two first met on Nov. 29 2003 where ISU defeated VT by a score of 32-12.
* Iowa State is 2-0 at home, 1-0 on the road and 2-0 at a neutral site in the series.

*Iowa State (5-1 overall, 0-0 Big 12) takes on No. 8 Virginia Tech (8-1, 1-0 ACC), Sunday, in Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones are coming off a dominant, 41-3, dual performance against Penn that saw nine ISU wrestlers grab victories, seven of which via bonus points. The 41 team points are the third-most in a regular-season dual in the Kevin Jackson era.
*Six Cyclone wrestlers are earning national rankings in Earl Hall (7 / 5 / 8), Gabe Moreno (16 / 14 / 13), Michael Moreno (5 / 5 / 3), Tanner Weatherman (9 / 13 / 12), Lelund Weatherspoon (17 / 18 / 18) and Kyven Gadson (3 / 2 / 3), five earning top-15 spots across the Intermat, TheOpenMat or Flowrestling polls.
*Seven Cyclones picked up bonus-point victories against Penn, as Kyle Larson, Gadson and Quean Smith won by major decision, Weatherspoon won by tech-fall and Dante Rodriguez, Luke Goettl and M. Moreno won via fall.
*At the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, Iowa State was one of two schools (Minnesota) to place at least five individuals in the top-5 at their respective weight classes. The team's showing was highlighted by four top-3 finishes and a title-winning performance from Gadson at 197.
*Hall led the Cyclones at the Southern Scuffle, wrestling to the 133-pound title and knocking off three top-10 individuals, earning Big 12 wrestler of the week recognition.
*This season, Cyclone wrestlers have accounted for 157 bonus-point victories (BPVs), scoring 89 pins, 25 tech-falls and 43 major decisions in five tournaments and six duals. ISU grapplers have scored BPVs in 33.9% of their matches this season (49.7% of victories via bonus points).
*Five Cyclones currently hold winning percentages of over .800 in Gadson (16-1, .941), M. Moreno (15-1, .938), Weatherspoon (11-2, .846), G. Moreno (18-4, .818) and Hall (18-4, .818).
*Gadson has continued his dual-competition dominance in 2015, riding a 36-match dual winning streak. The Waterloo, Iowa, native has won 12 of his 17 matches via bonus points this season, scoring seven pins, a tech-fall and four major decisions.
*M. Moreno is seeing similar success on the mat, scoring two major decisions, three tech-falls and four pins on the year. The Urbandale, Iowa, native is second on the team in bonus-point victories (9). Moreno is currently sidelined after getting banged up at #CKLV, where he finished third.
*Moreno and Gadson are two of just nine wrestlers nationally to win 30 matches and earn a spot on the NCAA All-America podium in each of the past two seasons. Both are on pace to do so again for the third-straight season, earning top-5 rankings in every national poll.
*Gabe Moreno notched a 3rd-place finish at #CKLV and is coming off a 5-1 victory over Penn's then-No.12-ranked CJ Cobb. Moreno and Hall are tied for the team-lead in total victories in 2014-15 with 18.
