AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State gymnastics team bounced back from a challenging couple of meets with its second-highest score of the season Friday night at Hilton Coliseum. ISU recorded a 195.675 while taking on Big 12 foe and No. 1 Oklahoma, who posted the top score in the country this season with a 198.150. Several Iowa State gymnasts recorded career highs on individual events and the team earned their highest score of the season on vault.
Balance Beam
Iowa State received a team score of 49.075 on beam, its highest event score of the night. One highlight on beam was junior Alex Marasco earning a career high score of 9.875. Another career high for the Cyclones on the event came from freshman Kelsey Paz, who received a 9.825.
Vault
A team score of 48.950 gave the Cyclones their highest vault score this season. The freshmen came out strong on vault, three setting new career highs. Briana Ledesma and Kelsey Paz both brought their career high up to 9.775 and Haylee Young's score of 9.875 set the record for her as well.
Uneven Bars
Hilary Green brought in another career high for the night, earning a 9.850 on bars. She led the Cyclones on the event, followed closely by Caitlin Brown, who earned a 9.825. The team received a team score of 48.725.
Floor Exercise
Haylee Young earned the highest score on the event for ISU with a 9.850, leading the Cyclones to a 48.925. Kristen DeCosta received the next highest score with 9.800. With a 9.775, Hilary Green recorded her second career high of the meet.
All-Around
Caitlin Brown and Haylee Young tied for the win on the all-around with scores of 39.250. Young's 39.250 was the second-highest of her youthful ISU career.
