AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State men's and women's track and field teams will be represented in a combined four events at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Randal Tyson Track Center on the University of Arkansas campus will host the event.
Ed Kemboi, Cameron Ostrowski and Katy Moen will compete in the 800-meter run, high jump and 3,000-meter run, respectively, while a combination of Kemboi, Derek Jones, Patrick Peterson, Brian Biekert, Cameron DeLago and Brandon Barnes will take the track in the distance medley for the Cyclones.
A three-time All-America honoree (2011, 2012 and 2014) in the 800-meter run, Kemboi ranks first in the nation with a time of 1:46.09 set at the Iowa State Classic. Kemboi ran to first-team All-America honors during last year's championship meet, clocking a time of 1:48.54 in a runner-up effort.
Kemboi is coming off a historic performance at the 2015 Big 12 Indoor Championships, earning conference titles in the 800-meter and 1000-meter runs, and becoming the first athlete to be crowned champion in both events in back-to-back years. In addition to a national title, Kemboi will be chasing his own school record of 1:45.98 set during last year's ISU Classic.
Another Cyclone All-America honoree, Ostrowski ranks 11th nationally in the high jump, clearing a mark of 7' 3” (2.21m) at the Iowa State Classic. During the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships, Ostrowski posted a 6' 10.75” (2.10m) performance, earning a 13th-place finish en route to All-America recognition.
The two-time All-Big 12 award winner recorded a career best 7' 3.75” (2.23m) at the 2014 Big 12 Indoor Championships, clinching a conference title and ranking the redshirt senior second on Iowa State's all-time top-performers list.
On the women's side, Moen captured a bid to the NCAA Indoor Championships with a gutsy performance at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, crossing the finish line in a personal best time of 9:08.69 in the 3,000-meter run. The redshirt senior from Fairbank, Iowa currently ranks 17th nationally and sits fourth on Iowa State's all-time top-performers list in the event.
In a school record time of 9:31.85, the distance medley team of Kemboi, Jones, Peterson and Biekert qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Alex Wilson Invitational, ranking the crew 11th in the nation.
The relay squad of Kemboi, Jones, Peterson and DeLago clocked Iowa State's then-school record time of 9:34.36 – which stood for just three weeks – at the Razorback Invitational this season. The men's distance relay team for this weekend is yet to be determined, but a combination of Kemboi, Jones, Peterson, Biekert, DeLago and Barnes will compete for Iowa State.
The 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships will broadcast on ESPN3, with coverage starting at 6:50 p.m. CT on Friday, March 13 and 5:50 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 14. Live results will be available online, while Iowa State coverage and updates will be provided on the @CycloneTrackXC Twitter feed.

*Three different student-athletes and the men's DMR team qualified for the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The men's DMR squad is comprised of Kemboi, Derek Jones, Patrick Peterson, Brian Biekert, Cameron DeLago and Brandon Barnes.
*The Cyclones are rewriting the record books this season, notching 24 spots on Iowa State's all-time top-10 indoor lists, acheived by 16 different student-athletes.
*Edward Kemboi led a strong showing by the Cyclones at the 2015 Big 12 Indoor Championships. The Eldoret, Kenya native became the first athlete in conference history to win the 800m and 1,000m runs in back-to-back seasons.
*The Iowa State men's team finished fifth overall at the 2015 Big 12 Indoor Championships, the highest finish for the program since the conference's inaugural season in 1997. The women's team finished seventh.
*Kemboi currently enters the NCAA Indoor Championships as the number one seed in the 800-meter run. The senior cruised to a first-place finish at the Iowa State Classic in a time of 1:46.09. Kemboi defeated four other athletes who rank top-10 nationally at the meet.
*Senior high jumper Cameron Ostrowski comes into the Championships as the 14th-seed with a mark of 7-03.00. He holds the second-best career mark in Iowa State history with a jump of 7-03.75 set in 2014.
*Katy Moen cruised to a second-place finish at the Big 12 Championships in a personal best time of 9:08.69, punching her ticket to the NCAA Championships. She enters the race as the 15th-seed.
*The men's DMR earned a spot by shattering the previous school record at the Alex Wilson Invitational. The squad enters the meet as the 10th-seed with a time of 9:31.85
*Kendra White earned her spot on the national radar in the 400-meter run, finishing the race in an Iowa State record time of 53.81 at the Iowa State Classic. White ranks 33rd overall nationally.
*Jan Jeuschede tossed a mark of 62' 5.75” at the Iowa State Classic. The Rosrath, Germany native holds the 23rd best mark nationally this year and ranks third on the Iowa State all-time performers list.
*Redshirt junior Taylor Sanderson showed big improvement in to the heptathlon this season. The junior set a school record of 5479 in the event at the Big 12 Championships.
