AMES, Iowa – The 2015 football season is only 10 days away, and the brand new South End Zone project at Jack Trice Stadium is nearly complete.
The project, with the Sukup End Zone Club as its centerpiece, will increase capacity of Jack Trice Stadium to 61,500 and enhance the gameday environment to a national level.
The Sukup End Zone Club will feature 3,000 premium outdoor chair-back seats and members of the club can access a climate-controlled two-level lounge area fully equipped with food and drinks overlooking the stadium.
Included in the project is a ribbon board on the east and west sides, and another state-of-the-art video scoreboard mirroring the current one on the north end of the stadium. Jack Trice Stadium is now one of the few venues nationally to boast a pair of high-definition video screens ranging from 36 feet high and 79.5 feet wide on each end.
Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard is ecstatic to see this $60 million project come to fruition.
“I just think it's another major step in a continuum of success,” Pollard said. “I mean, you don't change the history of a program overnight. We talked about that, as we all want to win. We all want to win today. This is a major step in putting us in a position that says that we have everything anybody needs now to win. We're no longer underfunded, no longer understaffed and we certainly now have the facilities.”
