AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State gymnastics home season begins next Friday night inside Hilton Coliseum when the Cyclones host Lindenwood and North Carolina State in a tri-meet. It will be the first of five ISU home meets in 2016, and there are plenty of promotions across the season to encourage fans to come cheer on the Cyclones.
There are plenty of recurring ticket offers during the 2016 season. This season, an Early Bird Special is being introduced. On Monday-through-Thursday of meet week, fans can purchase discounted $3 tickets to the meet exclusively at the Iowa State Athletics Ticket Office. Ticket prices will then return to the regular $5 price on Friday. Friday meets, which encompass four of the five home meets in 2016, are Faculty and Staff Free Fridays. Iowa State faculty and staff members can show their Iowa State University ID at any door and receive free admission.
Jr. Cyclone Club members get into all Iowa State gymnastics meets for free by showing their membership cards at any door. Jr. Cyclone Club members can also have the opportunity to be an Honorary Captain. Honorary Captains have their picture taken with head coach Jay Ronayne, be part of the team march-in, watch the meet from the floor and march with the Cyclone Gymnastics team to each event. Birthday parties also return to Cyclone gymnastics. For only $50, the birthday package includes 12 tickets and cupcakes, a clone cone and a free Iowa State gymnastics t-shirt for the birthday kid. The first four meets will have Iowa State gymnasts signing autographs. Each class will sign autographs after the meet, with the freshmen class on Jan. 29, sophomores on Feb. 5, juniors Feb. 19 and seniors on Feb. 21.
For Iowa State's home opener on Jan. 29, it is Jr. Cyclone Club Night. The first 50 JCC members to visit the marketing table on the Hilton Coliseum south concourse will receive a voucher for a free hot dog and soda. The meet is also Honor Roll night, with students being able to bring their report cards to any door to receive free admission.
Iowa State will host West Virginia in a Big 12 meet on Friday, Feb. 5. The meet will serve as “Daddy Daughter Disney Date Night”. The package, which costs $4 for Jr. Cyclone Club members and $7 for non-members, includes two general admission tickets, a tiara for the daughter(s), a special Daddy-Daughter themed photo and access to a Disney Princess meet and greet. Daughters are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Disney princesses, and also take part in the Princess Parade prior to the meet.
On Fri., Feb. 19, Iowa State will host Minnesota and Air Force in a tri-meet that will also serve as Iowa State's “Think Pink” meet. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness, and the first 250 fans will receive ISU Think Pink t-shirts. The meet is also Club Team & Dance Studio Night. Another fun promotion for the meet will be the “This Tall Ticket Handout”, fans will have the opportunity to stand next to life-size cutouts of Iowa State's shortest gymnast (Sydney Converse) and tallest gymnast (Sara Townsend), and if fans are shorter than Sydney or taller than Sara, they will receive a free ticket to the Sunday, Feb. 21 meet.
The Sunday, Feb. 21 meet will be a quadrangular featuring Nebraska, NC State and Wisconsin-La Crosse. The meet will serve as Olympic Night, with meet and greets with special guests. Iowa State will celebrate Senior Night on Fri., March 4 at 6:30 p.m. against Iowa in an Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series showdown.
