Both Iowa State and TCU enter the match coming off mid-week losses, but also with its respective seasons nearing the brink. For ISU, the loss Wednesday against Baylor in five sets at Hilton Coliseum drops the Cyclones to 10-9 overalll and 2-5 in Big 12 competition. The Cyclones got up in the match 2-1 after battling off six BU set points in set three, but fell in five sets, with the Bears winning the final seven points of the match to take the fifth 15-6. ISU was blocked 14.0 times against Baylor, something it will need to clean up prior to facing one of the better blocking teams in the league in TCU. Iowa State is 3-1 all-time in Fort Worth.
TCU has lost four-straight matches to the Big 12's top-four in Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas and, most recently, at No. 2 Texas in three sets Wednesday night. The Frogs are now 10-8 on the season and 3-5 in conference competition. Despite losing to KU in Fort Worth on Saturday, the URC has been a friendly confine to the Frogs, who are 7-2 on the year at home. TCU will be looking for its first-ever season-sweep of the Cyclones on Saturday. In Ames on Sept. 25, it was ISU who battled back to force a fifth set, and were ahead 11-9. However, TCU clawed back to score the final six points of the match to take the fifth 15-11.
