LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Iowa State soccer team (10-6-1, 3-3-1 Big 12) fell to the No. 25 Kansas Jayhawks (9-4-4, 4-1-2 Big 12) 1-0, on Friday night at Rock Chalk Park. Freshman Katie McClure scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute.
Turning Point of the Game
The Jayhawks controlled most of the first half outshooting the Cyclones 16-2, but they weren't able to find the back of the net. Iowa State had some good chances in the second half including a free kick near the right corner flag that sophomore Emily Steil put nicely into a congested penalty box, but no Cyclones were able to get a clean foot on it. Both goalkeepers made incredible saves down the stretch.
The game went on without a goal until the 86th minute when Eva Eliasdottir played a ball into Katie McClure right at the left post and she scored the game-winner.

Lindsey Hendon. The junior goalkeeper made six saves tonight including multiple diving stops. She was just unfortunate to give up a goal with under five minutes remaining that ricocheted off an Iowa State defender. Â
Coach Said It
"It was a good game. I thought we got off a little slow, but we managed to find a little rhythm in the first half," head coach Tony Minatta said. "We started making things happen and defended very well. In the second half, we started really playing and got some good shots and some opportunities on goal. They had some good chances and Hendon came up with a bigtime save. Their keeper made an incredible save as well. It was a great game. It was unfortunate to go out on a goal like that in the last five minutes, but credit to Kansas. They are definitely deserving of the second place finish in conference play. Mark Francis has done a wonderful job here and hats off to their senior class and what they have done. We are now looking forward to next week and being able to compete in the Big 12 Championship."
Game Notes
* Sophomore Emily Steil led the team with four shots.
* Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Hendon recorded six saves.
