AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State gymnastics team will look to send some Cyclones to the NCAA Gymnastics Championships this weekend at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships Minneapolis Regional. The meet takes place on Saturday at the Sports Pavilion on the campus at the University of Minnesota, and begins at 4 p.m.
Iowa State will be represneted by
Meaghan Sievers and
Haylee Young in the all-around,
Sydney Converse on vault and balance beam,
Hilary Green on uneven bars,
Briana Ledesma on vault and floor exercise,
Alex Marasco on beam and
Kelsey Paz on floor. Also traveling will be alternates
Courtney Middelkoop (floor) and
Sara Townsend (vault).
Sievers will be rotating with Big 12 squad Denver, while Young will be with the three-time defending national champion Florida Gators. Converse, Green and Paz will be in individual event specialist group one that will rotate with Ohio State and Ledesma and Marasco will join BYU in individual event specialist group two.
To reach the NCAA Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, the all-arounders need to be among to the top-two non-advancing-team all-arounders. To advance as an individual, a gymnast needs to finish in first place of the event competition.
