AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State gymnastics program announced its 2018 schedule on Wednesday. The Cyclones will have six home meets, including the 2018 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship, and six away meets this season.
This experienced group will start the season on the road in a quad-meet on Jan. 6 in Tempe, Arizona as they face Arizona State, Auburn and Iowa.
After their trip out west, the Cyclones will return home and host Arizona for their first home meet of the 2018 season on Friday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Iowa State will then travel to Norman, Oklahoma as they compete in their first tri-meet of the 2018 season. In addition to defending national champions Oklahoma, the Cyclones will compete against Texas Woman's University on Sunday, Jan. 21.
The Cyclones will be back at Hilton Coliseum for back-to-back home meets. On Friday, Jan. 26, they Cyclones will host Texas Woman's University. To kick off the month of February, the Cyclones will host Big 12 opponent West Virginia, Northern Illinois, and Yale at Hilton Coliseum at 6:30 on Friday, Feb. 2.
After back to back home meets, Iowa State will travel to San Jose, Calif. There, they will face San Jose State and Boise State in a tri-meet on Feb. 9 at 9pm.
The Cyclones will be back at Hilton Coliseum on Feb. 23. as they take on Minnesota, Michigan State, and UW-Stout in their third quad-meet of the year.
Iowa State will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 25 as they go to St. Charles, Mo. There, they will face Lindenwood and Illinois State in a tri-meet at 1 pm.
The Cyclones will open the final third of their schedule in Lincoln, Nebraska. Iowa State will take on Nebraska, UCLA, and Kent State on Sunday, March 4 in their final quad-meet of the season.
On Friday March 9 at 6:30 p.m. the Cyclones will be looking to send off their five seniors in the proper way as they take on Iowa and Missouri.
Iowa State will look to finish off the regular season in an exciting fashion as the travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas. They will be facing Arkansas and their last Big 12 opponent, Denver, on Friday, March 16.
The Big 12 Gymnastics Championship is returning to campus sites in 2018, and Iowa State will be the first hosts on Saturday, March 24 at 4 p.m.
The regional meets will be on Saturday, Apr. 7, with possible destinations being Salt Lake City, Utah, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Raleigh, North Carolina, Columbus, Ohio, University Park, Pennsylvania and Minneapolis. They will be looking to earn a spot in the NCAA Gymnastics Championships in St. Louis on Apr. 20-21.
