Ames, Iowa - The Iowa State women's basketball team (0-0, 0-0 Big 12) is set to take on South Dakota (0-0, 0-0 Summit League)Â on Friday, Nov. 10 at noon. The game will serve as a season opener for both squads. The Cyclones look to win their 23rd-straight season opener under head coach Bill Fennelly. Friday's game will also serve as Field Trip Day with local schools invited to attend the noon opener.Â

- The Iowa State women's basketball team will officially begin the 45th season in program history on Friday, Nov. 10 when it takes on South Dakota at noon. Iowa State is looking for its 23rd-straight season opening win under head coach Bill Fennelly.
- Iowa State won its 36th-straight exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 5 against Wisconsin-La Crosse, 93-50. The Cyclones placed four in double figures and shot 52.2 percent from the floor in the win.
- Bridget Carleton is one of 20 players in the nation named to the Cheryl Miller Award Preseason Watch List, which honors the nation's top small forward. Carleton also earned honorable mention honors on the Big 12 preseason team for the 2017-18 season in addition to being a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 postseason team in 2016-17.
- Carleton ranks first in school history in career free-throw percentage. Carleton has knocked down 88 percent of her free throws at ISU. Last season, she set the ISU single-season record making 93.9 percent, which was also good for second in the nation.
- Durr also ranks in the top-5 in school history in free-throw shooting. Durr has knocked down 85 percent of her freebies, which currently ranks fourth in school history.
- The Cyclones welcome five newcomers to the roster with freshmen, Rae Johnson (Albertville, Minn.), Kristin Scott (Kasson, Minn.) and Madison Wise (Greenfield, Ind.), junior JUCO transfer, Bride Kennedy-Hopoate (Brisbane, Australia) and senior transfer, Alexa Middleton (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). Middleton will redshirt this season after transferring from Tennessee.
- Iowa State was one of 13 teams to earn an NCAA berth in 10 of the last 11 seasons, joining UConn, Duke, Baylor, DePaul, Florida State, Louisville, Notre Dame, Maryland, Oklahoma, Stanford, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
- The 2016-17 season marks the 23rd in the tenure of Bill Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 17 NCAA Tournament appearances, which is tied with Oklahoma as the most of any Big 12 team since 1997.
