Cyclones Run Streak to Six

WATERLOO, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team (9-2, 0-0 Big 12) beat in-state foe UNI, 7-0 for its sixth consecutive victory at the Black Hawk Tennis Center on Saturday.

Iowa State was able to get things going early by taking the doubles point from the Panthers.

Sami Budai and Maty Cancini got back on track as they dominated the pairing of Stroobant/Santos 6-1. The Cyclones also picked up a win from Regina Espindola and Karen Alvarez.

Iowa State was then able to finish off UNI in singles play by sweeping all six matches.

Erin Freeman won a hard fought match against Gisela Kemper. Freeman prevailed in the third set and got a point for the Cyclones.

Margarita Timakova, Annabella Bonadonna, and Maty Cancini were also impressive in their matches by winning in straight sets.

Undefeated streaks continue to be a theme for this Cyclone team. Iowa State has run its win streak to six. Meanwhile, Sami Budai and Regina Espindola haven't lost in singles play yet. Budai is 6-0 while Espindola is an impressive 10-0.

Iowa State will be back in action next Saturday in Sioux Falls. The Cyclones will take on Sioux Falls (4-2, 2-2 NSIC) and Augustana (5-2, 4-0 NSIC).
