Iowa State Notches Eighth-Straight Win

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Iowa State tennis team (11-2, 0-0 Big 12) won two duals in South Dakota as it beat Augustana and Sioux Falls on Saturday.

The Cyclones were impressive in their first match against an Augustana club that had won six of their last seven matches.

Iowa State swept all three doubles matches to grab the early lead.

Maty Cancini, Erin Freeman, and Margarita Timakova went on to win their singles matches to help Iowa State get the 4-1 victory.

In their second dual of the day, the Cyclones dominated Sioux Falls, 7-0.

Iowa State won all three doubles matches and all six contests in singles play.

Maty Cancini and Liera Bender highlighted the rout of the Cougars. Maty Cancini got the straight set, 6-0, 6-0 , victory at the No. 1 position. Bender notched her first victory of the dual season.

Iowa State was able to extend the win streak to eight with the two wins on Saturday.

The Cyclones will return home next weekend to take on Wyoming and West Virginia. The match against Wyoming will be at 3:00 P.M. on Friday. Iowa State will then take on West Virginia to begin Big 12 play at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday.
