COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Iowa State soccer team (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) fell to Missouri (2-0, 0-0 SEC) on Sunday afternoon at Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium. The Cyclones played MU to a 0-0 draw in the first half, but gave up a pair of goals early in the second stanza, and were unable to answer, despite 12 shots, including five on goal.
The Cyclone front line continued to force the issue late into the game, but were unable to break through. Freshman Courtney Powell came off the bench to provide particularly strong minutes, logging four shots, including two on goal.

Turning Point of the Game
The Tigers came out of the locker room fast after half time and put together an excellent offensive spurt that would ultimately prove to be the difference in the match. Savannah Trujillo put Missouri on the board in the 51st minute on the assist from Sarah Luebbert.
Luebbert then connected on a header just moments later in the 55th minute, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Iowa State pressed back with two more shots on goal, but were unable to convert.

Coach Said It
"We had a really strong first half," Minatta said. "I thought we pinged the ball around well and didn't give too many opportunities up. Coming out of the half we talked about adjustments and the fact that they were going to come at us hard, but we came out a bit slow and in a lull. They got the two early goals and we came back and started pressing and we had some great chances at goal up until the last five minutes, but at the end of the day you have to put those away. If you give up five minutes of your time against a team like that, they're going to make you pay. That's a lesson learned that we can carry forward.
