AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) will continue its spring season this weekend as they hit the road to Illinois, visiting Illinois-Chicago and Illinois-State.
The Cyclones are looking to continue the success found at last weekend's home opener. In the second match against the South Dakota Coyotes, ISU captured an impressive 7-0 win, with four of the singles matches going into three sets.
Head coach Armando Espinosa was pleased that the team was able to secure the win.
"This match could have gone either way," Espinosa said. "There were four matches that went into three sets, so we're lucky to come out 7-0 and we're happy it turned out that way."
To begin the weekend, ISU will meet with Illinois-Chicago at 10 a.m. Last season, the Cyclones walked away with a 4-0 win against the Flames. ISU hopes to continue their success against UIC this weekend in their ninth meeting in the series. The Cyclones will meet with the Illinois State Redbirds on Sunday to wrap up their trip to Illinois. ISU leads the series against the Illinois State Redbirds, 8-3, with their most recent match up being in 1998.
Saturday's match against Illinois-Chicago will begin at 9 a.m., while the second match of the weekend will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Follow @CycloneTEN on Facebook and Twitter, and check back in with Cyclones.com to receive updates on the team's performance.
