Gymnastics Soars to No. 12 After Outstanding First Meet

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's gymnastics team earned the No. 12 spot in the Road To Nationals poll after starting their season scoring an 195.175 in their opening meet at Arizona State. The No. 12 Cyclones beat then-No. 14 Auburn, No. 20 Iowa and Arizona State. This was the best score to open a season since 195.600 at 2007.
Haylee Young placed first in the all-around with a score of 39.200, while Kelsey Paz placed first on beam and tying a career high with an 9.875. Meaghan Sievers tied for first on vault with a score of 9.875, and freshman Sophia Steinmeyer placed third on vault with a score of 9.850.
The No. 12 Cyclones will compete against No. 10 Arizona at Hilton Coliseum on Friday night. The competition starts at 6:30 p.m. and televised by Cyclones.TV Powered by Mediacom.
