AMES, Iowa – Iowa State student-athletes are performing at a high level in the classroom.
Last month, Iowa State registered its best-ever Graduation Success Rate (GSR) with a mark of 88 pct. That figure is tied for second in the Big 12 and marks the fourth consecutive year that the institution's GSR improved.
"This data confirms the hard work and dedication that our student-athletes have put forward in regards to their academic pursuits," Senior Associate Athletics Director Dr. Charles Small said. "We are thrilled to establish some new record highs, rank highly among our peers and demonstrate significant improvement in several sports and key groups. Our student-athletes and coaches and the academic support teams all share in these achievements."
Earning a degree at Iowa State is the No. 1 goal for every Cyclone student-athlete, and the Office of Student-Athlete Development honored its most recent graduates this afternoon at its bi-annual graduation luncheon.
"We honor you for your achievements on the playing fields, but the most important honor you receive is today by earning your degree from Iowa State. Thank you for choosing to be a Cyclone," Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard told the graduates and families at the luncheon.
"To get my Iowa State degree, I take a lot of pride in it," wide receiver Matthew Eaton said. "This is one of the best universities in the country, and to get my degree from here, I know I made my family proud. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to come here and get my education."
Congratulations to the 2018 Cyclone Fall graduates!
