SAN JOSE, CALIF. – No. 23 Iowa State recorded its best road score this season with a 195.725 Friday night in San Jose. The Cyclones split the tri-meet and beat host San Jose State (194.500), while No. 14 Boise State went on to win the tri-meet with a 196.400. ISU is now 10-2 on the season. Molly Russ and Madeline Johnson both placed first in their respected event and shattered their career highs. The Cyclones showed tremendous resilience while earning season-highs on floor and beam as well.
Head Coach Jay Ronayne thought there were some positives to come out of tonight. "We as a coaching staff feel that beam is our strongest event," Ronayne said. "I think the team learned a lesson tonight. The execution from the team tonight was very good. They had some really solid routines and the judges recognized that and that's what it's all about."
Balance Beam
The Cyclones had their strongest performance of the season on beam tonight. The team earned a score of 49.225 improving upon their then season-high of 49.125, earned last week. Molly Russ placed first in the tri-meet on beam with a score of 9.900, which is a new career high. Haylee Young and Kelsey Paz both tallied a 9.850. Meaghan Sievers tied a career high with a 9.825, and Ariana Orrego recorded her new career high with a 9.800. Cassie Diaz also had a strong performance with a score of 9.775.

"I know that beam is one of our best events,. I know what this team can do and we just tried to treat this like a practice."
Vault
Iowa State recorded a team score of 49.025. Meaghan Sievers earned a new season high with a 9.900. Both Haylee Young and Kelsey Paz scored a 9.825 to help the Cyclones on vault. Kelly Martin tied her career high for the fifth time with a score of 9.775. Ariana Orrego notched a 9.700, and Briana Ledesma finished with a 9.675.
Floor Exercise
Iowa State recorded a 49.000 on floor, which is a season high. Haylee Young notched a 9.875 in the fifth spot of the lineup. Kelsey Paz earned another 9.850 for the second consecutive meet. Both Meaghan Sievers and Briana Ledesma put up a 9.775, and Hilary Green closed the Cyclones on floor with a 9.725.

Uneven Bars
The Cyclones scored a 48.475 on bars. Iowa State had to count a fall, but many Cyclones had impressive performances. Madeline Johnson had a beautiful routine and recorded her career high 9.925. Laura Burns also earned her career high with a 9.825. Hilary Green had another strong showing tallying a 9.875. Briana Ledesma also recorded a 9.775.

The Cyclones will be on bye next week, and will host a quad meet on February 23 with Michigan State, Minnesota and UW-Stout starting at 6:30 p.m. inside Hilton Coliseum.
