AMES, Iowa— The Iowa State tennis team (5-2, 0-0 Big 12) will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska for match ups against three teams. On Saturday, Feb. 24, the Cyclones will meet with the Creighton Bluejays at 2 p.m. The following day, ISU will compete against Nebraska at 10 a.m. and Omaha at 2 p.m.
Last fall, sophomore Karen Alvarez competed in the Bluejay Invitational, hosted by Creighton, where she went on to finish fourth in her bracket. In its series record, ISU leads 11-2, with its most recent meeting in 2009, when the Cyclones secured a 5-2 victory over the Bluejays. ISU has only secured three wins in its 45-dual history with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, while the Cyclones lead their series record against the Mavericks of Nebraska-Omaha, 7-0. In their meeting with them last February, they captured a 4-0 win in Des Moines.
ISU's trip to Nebraska will be another road test. After this weekend, the Cyclones will head to Florida for a pair of matches against North Florida and Mercer. The greatest challenge that lies ahead in the month of March is when the Cyclones face Big Ten foe Iowa on March 7, followed by Big 12 action which begins with Oklahoma State on March 17.
