AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (22-27, 3-11 Big 12) dropped a 4-3 nail-biter to No. 19 Baylor (32-14, 9-6 Big 12) on Saturday at the Cyclone Sports Complex. The Cyclones rallied from an early 4-0 deficit behind a three-run home run by Nychole Antillon, but were unable to complete the comeback.

The Lady Bears were firing on all cylinders to open Saturday afternoon's contest. Jessie Scroggins and Kyla Walker notched back-to-back base hits to start the game, before the three-hole hitter Shelby Friudenberg put BU on the board with an RBI single to left center, scoring Scroggins. Baylor clean-up hitter Goose McGlaun then hit a three-run home run to center field, as the Lady Bears stretched the lead to 4-0 after one inning.
ISU starting pitcher Savannah Sanders and the Cyclone defense settled in tremendously from that point forward. Baylor was held scoreless over the game's final six innings, with Sanders surrendering just three hits from that point forward. The junior hurler from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., went all seven innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.
The Cyclones, who out-hit Baylor 8-7 on the day, were sparked by Antillon's three-run shot in the bottom of the third. ISU's Sami Williams, who went 3-of-4 at the plate with a double, started the rally with a single up the middle. Sally Woolpert then laced a single to third base to put a pair of runners on for Antillon. The senior from Orange, Calif., who will celebrate her Senior Day tomorrow at the Cyclone Sports Complex, crushed her three-run shot down the left field line, rounding the bases to cut BU's lead to 4-3.
Iowa State put runners aboard in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, but were never able to break through to tie or take the lead. Baylor starter Regen Green exited with two outs in the fifth inning, and ace Gia Rodoni entered to complete the save. Rodoni allowed two hits with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
