Kansas was able to take control of an even set, using a 5-0 run around the media timeout to build up a 19-14 lead, the run including back-to-back blocks of the Cyclones. Herrera fired on the slide for her 11th kill and to bring up set point at 24-23, which Schuler wrapped up with her second ace of the night at 25-23.
Set Three: Kansas 25 Iowa State 22
A 4-0 run gave the home team an early 11-9 advantage, a lead the Jayhawks were able to ride for a good chunk of the set. After a lengthy discussion between coaches and officials over a call at the net, ISU was able to bounce out of it with a 3-0 run, with Herbst killing two-straight times to tie it at 19-19. However, the Jayhawks were able to rally and power its way to the set. KU hit .389 in the third, finishing it off with a Morgan Christon kill at 25-22.

The KU defense was able to start finding answers to the Cyclone middles, as the block helped guide a 5-0 run that put the Jayhawks ahead 8-4. Annie Hatch and Rhodes teamed for a block to cut the KU lead to one at 10-9, but the home side went on a 3-0 run to move back ahead 13-9. The Kansas lead got to eight at 20-12 before ISU was able to get it back within four at 20-16. Iowa State was able to rise up, with both sides of the ball contributing to help even the set at 21-21 on a Herbst/Rhodes block. Both teams continued to side-out until Kansas cut the Cyclone lead to a point at 12-11. KU tied it at 12-12 on a Camryn Ennis ace, and moved ahead for the first time in the fifth at 13-12 on a Christon kill. KU got to match point at 14-12 and wrapped it up when Christon killed at 15-12.
