Iowa State fell to No. 3 Baylor 3-0 Sunday afternoon at the Ferrell Center in Waco. Like the meeting between the two teams in Ames, Iowa State did have its opportunities to get set wins. In the second set, ISU held off four Baylor set points and were able to get a set point of its own, but were unable to convert and on their sixth set point of the set, the Bears was able to put the frame away.
In defeat, Iowa State was led by Eleanor Holthaus, who recorded 16 kills at .294 hitting.
The Mountaineers (11-12, 2-8 Big 12) fell to No. 1 Texas 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in Austin. The Mountaineer defense had no answer for a Texas attack which hit .384 on the day. WVU were led by Katelyn Evans, who notched 10 kills, while libero Alexa Hasting recorded 18 digs.
In their first meeting back on Oct. 5, Iowa State won 3-0, with the Cyclone offense powering their way to .374 hitting in the victory. A balanced Iowa State attack was led by 12 kills at .370 hitting from Annie Hatch, 11 kills by Josie Herbst, 10 from Eleanor Holthaus and nine by Avery Rhodes.
Iowa State has not lost to West Virginia since the Mountaineers joined the Big 12 in 2012, with ISU having won the last 16 meetings of the two sides. In WVU's previous seven trips to Hilton Coliseum, the Mountaineers have only claimed a combined three sets off the Cyclones.
