AMES, Iowa – Iowa State finished out the regular season by recording a 195.925 against No. 5 Denver on Senior Night inside Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones (9-8, 2-4 Big 12) fell to the visiting Pioneers, who recorded a 197.225.
All three ISU seniors shone for the Cyclones, led by Meaghan Sievers' 39.375 in the all-around, with the Cyclone senior getting a 9.800 or better in all four events. Fellow senior Kelly Martin got a 9.800 on vault, and Madeline Johnson got a 9.775 on the uneven bars.
"We started with the best set of vaults we have done all season," Iowa State head coach Jay Ronayne said. "I am very pleased with that, and I was very happy they set the tone that way. We carried everything into to bars and stuck a lot of dismounts and carried it through the whole mmet. I am very proud with the effort of the team and the performance of everyone."
"It's starting to become real that these careers are coming to an end," Ronayne continued. "This group is a huge reason why I love this sport. I can't wait to get in the gym with them every day. Imagining that they are not going to be around is very hard and heart wrenching. They mean a lot."
Uneven Bars
The Cyclones got another strong performance on the bars, finishing with a 49.100. Meaghan Sievers once again delivered a strong performance for ISU, getting a 9.875.
