The Cyclones will square off against the Cowgirls or Jayhawks on Saturday, March 9 at 6 p.m. on FSN. Iowa State earned the No. 2 seed for the first time since the 2012-13 season. - Senior Bridget Carleton was named the Big 12 Player of the Year on Wednesday by the league's coaches. Carleton averaged a league-leading 21.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.4 blocks. She is the first Cyclone in school history to earn Big 12 Player of the Year honors.
- ISU checks in at No. 19 in this week's AP Top 25 poll after going 2-0 last week and moving into second in the Big 12 standings. Iowa State ranks No. 12 in the latest RPI projections and is ranked No. 3 in strength of schedule. ISU is also ranked No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. In the second NCAA Top-16 reveal the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee put Iowa State at 14th overall, making them a No. 4 seed in the Chicago Regional.
- Carleton (2,040) is currently second in school history in scoring, she is 109 points behind all-time scoring leader Angie Welle (2,149). She also holds the school record in scoring average, netting 17.1 points per game in her career and counting.
- Carleton's 658 points this season currently ranks second on the ISU scoring list, just 18 points behind Welle's 676 in 2002. She is also on pace to break the ISU single-season scoring average record set by Angie Welle in 2002 (20.5 PPG), as she is averaging 21.9 PPG. Carleton is also looking to be just the third Cyclone to lead the Big 12 in scoring, as Angie Welle (20.5, 2002) and Lindsey Wilson (19.2, 2003) completed the feat.
- Kristin Scott has been making waves in her sophomore campaign. She ranks 10th in the Big 12 in scoring (15.2 PPG) and seventh in rebounding (7.9 RPG) in conference games. She was named second-team All-Big 12 for her efforts. She is currently No. 2 in the nation in 2-point field-goal percentage, knocking down 70.1 percent. Her 58.1 percent from the floor on the year ranks second in the Big 12.
- Ashley Joens, who was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, has connected on 66 3-pointers this season, which ranks second all-time among ISU freshmen. Joens needs just four more to pass Heather Ezell (2006) who netted 69 in her freshman campaign.
- Iowa State is on pace to set a school record in points per game in a single season, averaging 80.2 PPG. The current record of 79.9 PPG was set in the 1999-00 season. Iowa State has already tied the 1999-00 team as the only two Big 12 teams to score 100 or more points on two conference opponents in a single season.
- The 2018-19 season marks the 24th in the tenure of Bill Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 17 NCAA Tournament appearances. Fennelly boasts a 502-260 record at Iowa State and a 668-313 record in his 30-year career as a head coach.
