MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Iowa State tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Kansas State Sunday afternoon. The Cyclones fall to 5-10 overall and 1-6 in Big 12 Conference play. K-State improves to 12-9 overall and 2-6 in league action.
The Wildcats claimed wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to earn the doubles point and take the early advantage in the match.
Cyclone freshman Ekaterina Grib highlighted the day in singles action with a three-set, come-from-behind win against the Wildcats' Margot Decker at No. 3 singles. Grib dropped the first set but rallied to win 0-6, 6-2, 1-0 (9).
The match at No. 1 singles went the distance as well but Maty Cancini was unable to overcome Maria Linares. Cancini dropped the first set but rallied to force a third before falling, 5-7, 7-5, 0-1 (9).
The Cyclones return to action Friday with a doubleheader, hosting Texas at 11 a.m. and UMKC at 5:30 p.m.
