Cyclones Open ITA Regionals With Three Doubles Wins

Ames, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team picked up three doubles victories on day one of the ITA Regionals on Thursday.
Stanislava Shulzhenko and Mari Paz Alberto Vilar won their first match together since taking home the Blue-Gray Classic championship four weeks ago. They defeated Annelise Deer and Milana Bozhko from Oral Roberts, 8-4. Gabriela Felix and Valeska San Martin Ramirez were the next Cyclone pair to pick up a win, taking down Nebraska's Catherine Gagnon and Tiziana Rossini, 8-5. Julia Camblor and Ashlee Narker capped off Thursdays wins by knocking off North Dakota's Jule Schulte and Ethel Li, 8-3.
Gabriella Kellner and Suzanie Pretorius fell in their doubles match, while Kellner and Felix each fell in their respective singles matches.
The Cyclones will be back in action for the singles main draw and round two of doubles on Friday.
