AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team is back in the friendly confines of Hilton Coliseum Sunday afternoon for a noon showdown against LSU. Both teams will be looking to go 1-1 on the weekend.
No. 6 Penn State defeated both teams across the past two days to win the Cyclone Invitational title.
Tickets to Sunday's match can be bought online now, here, or starting one hour prior to the match at the Hilton Coliseum Ticket Office at the lower Southwest corner of Hilton. Students receive free admission to all Iowa State home volleyball matches, and should enter at the North entrance.
A reminder to season ticket holders with parking passes that they may park in any spot in Lots C1, C2, C3 and D1. The numbers on the bottom of the parking pass DO NOT indicate a specific spot where fans have to park.
A portion of the road outside the lower West side of Hilton will be closed from Sept. 3-13. The drive lanes off of Lincoln Way and Center drive will both remain open, but fans will be unable to pass through from North to South or vice versa. The lower West doors and Ticket Office are still accessible, but only from the South side of Hilton.

Iowa State fell to No. 6 Penn State in the opening match of the Cyclone Invitational on Friday night, 3-0. The Cyclones hit just .126 as a team, but will be pleased with a strong offensive night from Candelaria Herrera, with the junior recording 10 kills at .600 hitting. Piper Mauck had a double-double of 26 assists and 10 digs, while freshman Jaiden Centeno made her debut at libero for ISU, notching seven digs.
LSU are now 2-2 on the season after falling to Penn State 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum. The Tigers were held to .060 hitting by the Nittany Lions. Taylor Bannister led LSU with nine kills vs. PSU, she is averaging 4.33 kills per set at .258 hitting on the outside. LSU features a big front-row lineup, averaging 2.53 blocks per set. Middle blocker Anita Anwusi leads the way with 2.00 blocks per frame.
This will be the third all-time meeting between the two teams, with the series tied 1-1. The last meeting was won by Iowa State in 2007 at the Knapp Center in Des Moines. Associate head coach Jen Malcom played for ISU in that match, notching six kills and three blocks. The first meeting was in 1987 at a tournament in Springfield, Missouri, won by LSU in straight-sets.
This is the first year of a three-year triangular tournament agreement between Iowa State, Penn State and LSU. The tournament will head to PSU next year and LSU in 2021.
