




AMES, Iowa -Â The Iowa State women's basketball team (9-3, 1-0, Big 12) returns to Hilton Coliseum for its Big 12 home opener against Texas (8-5, 0-1 Big 12) on Monday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. on FS1. Iowa State leads the all-time series 20-18, and has won its last two meetings against the Longhorns. Iowa State is 10-6 against UT in Hilton Coliseum.
As a reminder, Hilton Coliseum has instituted a Clear Bag Policy for athletic events. The policy will enhance security while improving efficiency at the entry gates.

- Sophomore Ashley Joens, is off to a historic start to her sophomore season, and is currently averaging a double-double with 23.6 points and 11.1 rebounds. Joens' season average is trending close to Iowa State's single-season scoring record was set last season by senior Bridget Carleton at 21.7 points per game.Â
- Joens is currently first in the Big 12 in scoring and fourth in the nation, averaging 23.6 points per game, while her 11.1 rebounds ranks fourth in the Big 12 and 10th nationally. Joens remains the only player in the NCAA averaging over 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds .
- Joens also has a knack for getting to the free-throw line. She ranks first nationally in free throws made (101), and first in free throws attempted (119). Her 85.2 percent at the charity stripe also ranks 46th nationally and first in the Big 12. As a team, Iowa State ranks fifth nationally with 216 free throws made.
- Junior Kristin Scott picked up right where she left off last season, earning a spot on the Preseason All-Big 12 team. Scott is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.6 points, despite playing limited minutes earlier this season. Scott is also second in rebounding, averaging 6.8 boards per game.
- Joens and Scott each found themselves on a pair of preseason watch lists, with Joens being named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, which honors the nation's top small forward. Scott on the other hand, was named to the Lisa Leslie Watch List, which honors the country's best center. Scott is the first Cyclone to be named to the Lisa Leslie Watch List. Scott is also on the Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List, which honors the nation's top player.
- Junior Rae Johnson is tied for third in the Big 12 in assists per game, averaging 4.8. Johnson has dished five or more assists in six games this season.
- Iowa State currently ranks 24th nationally in blocked shots per game (5.2 BPG). Scott leads ISU, averaging 2.0 blocks per game on the year, while Ines Nezerwa is averaging 1.1 per game.
- The 2019-20 season marks the 25th in the tenure of Bill Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. Fennelly boasts a 514-265 record at Iowa State and a 680-318 record in his 32-year career as a head coach. The Cyclones ran past a previously unbeaten Texas Tech squad, 96-66. Iowa State's 96 points was also a record for a Big 12 road game, the previous mark was 92 at Nebraska on Feb. 4, 2001.
- Iowa State's offense was at its best, shooting 64.9 percent from the floor, marking one of the best performances in school history. Iowa State also set a school record 92.3 percent (12-of-13) from the floor in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Lady Raiders 31-4.
- Iowa State placed four in double figures for the first time this season. Kristin Scott led the way with a season-high 23 points. Ashley Joens added 19 on a 8-of-10 shooting. Joens also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Maggie Espenmiller-McGraw netted a career-high 17, while Adriana Camber (12) and Rae Johnson (11) rounded out the Cyclones in double figures.
