Cyclones Set To Host Texas On Friday

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (2-3-0) returns home to take on Texas (2-3-0) on Friday night at the Cyclone Soccer Complex in Ames, Iowa. The Cyclones and Longhorns are set for a 6 p.m. CT kick-off, televised by Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Friday's game will be ISU's annual Breast Cancer Awareness match, during which the Cyclones will wear pink kits

KEY STORYLINES
- Iowa State secured its second win of the season with a 1-0 victory at Oklahoma on Oct. 9 behind a game-winning goal (65') by Courtney Powell.

- Powell's game-winner came off a Mira Emma corner kick that Powell headed into the net. It was her team-leading 10th career goal. It was also the third game-winner of Powell's Cyclone career. She is one away from securing a spot in the top-10 in game-winning goals in school history.

- Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz was named the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week after keeping a clean sheet vs. OU. She made five saves in the ISU victory.

- Silkowitz leads the Big 12 in saves this season with 25. She is No. 2 in the conference in saves per game (5.0) and is the lone player with multiple Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honors. She is also the first Cyclone goalkeeper since 2015 (Lindsey Hendon) to win multiple Big 12 weekly awards in the same season.

- ISU's win over Oklahoma was its first shutout since Sep. 8, 2019, and the first clean sheet in conference play since Oct. 25, 2018.

- Sophomore midfielder Mira Emma ranks T-No. 1 in the Big 12 in assists this season with two.

- Friday's game has big implications on the Big 12 table. Iowa State and Texas are tied for fifth in the standings with 6 points each, and matching 2-3-0 records.

- Three Cyclone newcomers have seen game action so far this year. Silkowitz, a sophomore, has played all 464 minutes in goal, while Olivia Edwards and Meghan Carl are the lone freshman to see time on the pitch thus far. Edwards has started all five matches, while Carl has made three appearances.
