AMES, Iowa - Fresh off an open week, the Iowa State volleyball team is back at Hilton Coliseum this weekend for a pair of meetings with No. 2 Baylor this weekend. Friday's match will start at 6:30 p.m., with Saturday's showdown at 4 p.m.
Both matches will be streamed live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. For more information about Big 12 Now on ESPN+, click here. Live stats for both matches will be provided by Iowa State, here.
Iowa State was last in action on Oct. 8-9 at No. 1 Texas, with the Longhorns winning both matches 3-0. Despite the results, the Cyclones were able to leave Austin with a pair of strong efforts and some encouraging performances. In the Oct. 9 match, Candelaria Herrera led the ISU attack with 10 kills at .368 hitting, while Eleanor Holthaus got her nine kills at .318 hitting. Izzy Enna finished in double figures for digs in both matches, posting 18 in the second meeting.
Baylor, No. 2 in this week's AVCA Fall Top 15, comes into this weekend's meeting at 7-1, but on a seven-match win streak. Despite not having the services of First Team All-America setter and Des Moines native Hannah (Lockin) Sedwick, the BU offense is still hitting at .314 on the season while holding opponents to .157 hitting on the year. Leading the way is 2019 AVCA National Player of the Year Yossiana Pressley, who is averaging 4.50 kills per set at a .290 hitting clip. Sophomore middle Kara McGhee posts 2.36 kills per set at .393 hitting, while North Carolina transfer and outside hitter Lauren Harrison is posting 3.50 kills per set at .333 hitting. On defense, UCF transfer Lache Harper leads the block with 1.09 blocks per frame, while libero Shanel Bramschreiber posts 3.67 digs per set.
Baylor's season sweep and six-match winning streak in the all-time series gives them a 26-24 edge on the Cyclones. Iowa State will be looking for its first win over Baylor in Hilton Coliseum since 2015, while ISU's last victory over Baylor came in 2016 in Waco.Â
