URBANDALE, Iowa - Iowa State capped off a doubleheader Saturday with a 7-0 win over North Dakota. It was the Cyclones fourth victory of the year, continuing their unbeaten run to start the season. It was also the second time this season Iowa State has beaten a team 7-0. North Dakota falls to 0-3 after the loss.
The Cyclones jumped out to an early lead as Maty Cancini and Ting-Pei Chang pitched a 6-0 shutout in No. 3 doubles while Thasaporn Naklo and Miska Kadleckova beat their opponents 6-1 in the top slot. Sofia Cabezas and Christin Hsieh continued the winning trend with a 6-3 victory over Kaede Amano and Sapir Sela.
Naklo started off singles action with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Amano. The rest of the Cyclones would soon follow suit. Sofia Cabezas and Miska Kadleckova continued their impressive freshman campaigns as they each won handily over their opponents. Star senior Cancini also added another win to her career total with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Iowa State returns to action Friday, Feb. 5 when they visit Wichita State to play the Shockers.
