Cyclones Get Six Wins at Wildcat Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kansas – The Iowa State track and field resumed where it paused back in December at Ahearn Field House. The Cyclone sprinters and hurdlers had a solid day on the track at the Wildcat Invitational, picking up six event wins.
Katarina Vlahovic had a pair of strong runs on Saturday. In the 200-meter dash, the Canadian got the victory, crossing first in 25.27. In her premier event, the 60-meter hurdles, she took second with a season-best effort of 8.42.
Bria Barnes picked up the second victory of her Iowa State career, coming from behind to get the win in the women's 400-meter competition. She was second, over a second behind the leader heading into the second lap, but was able to bring her final 200m home in 29.88 to get the win in 56.92. Iowa State also got the victory in the men's 400, with Gage Clay getting his first individual win as a Cyclone in 50.55.
In the women's 600-yard run, it was Zakiyah Amos getting the victory for the Cardinal and Gold, crossing first in 1:27.67.
On the track, the Cyclones closed out the day with a win in the 4x400-meter relay with the group of Barnes, Laurel Hoogensen, Amos and Kendra Leger winning in 3:53.22. It was the first event wins of the careers of Hoogensen and Leger.
In the field, Jalaiya Bartley picked up a win in the triple jump. She had the three best jumps of the competition, including a winning effort of 39-1 1/4 (11.92m).
