AMES, Iowa - Iowa State returns to Hilton Coliseum for a second-straight weekend for a big series against West Virginia. The Cyclones and Mountaineers will be playing Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. each afternoon.
Tickets to both of this weekend's ISU matches (and all Iowa State home matches) are on sale now and can be bought, here. Tickets can also be purchased prior to the match, starting one hour before first serve, at the Hilton Coliseum Ticket Office at the southwest corner of Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State students can get in for free at the North Entrance of Hilton Coliseum.
Saturday's match will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. For more information, click here. Sunday's match will be televised on ESPN2, with Paul Sunderland and Missy Whittemore on the call. Live stats for both matches can be accessed, here.
Saturday will be Iowa State's annual "Dig Pink" match to promote breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match. Fans who wear pink can receive free admission to the match at any entrance of Hilton Coliseum. For Iowa State students, the Saturday match will also be the second "Cyclone Crazies" match of the season. For each entry on their punch card, students will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win an Iowa State prize. Students who get all three punches will receive an exclusive Iowa State Volleyball item at the Nov. 11 match against K-State.
On Sunday, Iowa State will celebrate Halloween with $2 reserved tickets, which can be bought here. $2 reserved tickets can only be purchased in advance, and the offer cannot be redeemed at the Hilton Coliseum Ticket Office on the day of the match. For kids, there will be pre-match Trick-or-Treating and pumpkin painting on the concourse as part of "FrankenCy's" Halloween Bash.
Iowa State gave No. 1 Texas their best shot last weekend at Hilton Coliseum, but could not get a win as UT won both matches, last Thursday's in four sets and Friday's in three. The Cyclone defense did their best, holding the country's No. 3 hitting side under .300 in both matches, with UT's .216 hitting effort on Friday their second-lowest of the season. In the libero spot for the absent Marija Popovic, Allie Petry recorded double figures for digs in both matches. Iowa State did have a strong weekend behind the service line, firing 12 aces against the Longhorns with Brooke Andersen leading the way with four.
The West Virginia Mountaineers are 13-6 on the season and 3-5 in BIg 12 play. Like the Cyclones, WVU are coming off a challenging weekend against a top BIg 12 team, falling to No. 8 Baylor in both matches last weekend in Morgantown.
The Mountaineers are an outstanding defensive team, holding opponents to .170 hitting on the season. The WVU block averages 2.48 blocks per set, led by Madison Page's 1.16 per set. Briana Lynch is one of the top two-way middles in the Big 12, averaging 2.92 kills per set at .356 hitting and recording 1.09 blocks per set. Florida State graduate transfer Adrian Ell leads the attack with 3.25 kills per set and gets 2.48 digs per set.
Iowa State leads the all-time series 18-3, but the Mountaineers were able to get a pair of wins over ISU last year in Morgantown. WVU will be looking for its first-ever wins in Ames, as the Cyclones hold an 8-0 edge in matches played at Hilton Coliseum.
