The team who controlled serve and pass was the team in control early. Good serving work from Allie Petry and Brooke Andersen helped propel ISU ahead early, but Yossiana Pressley responded with an ace of her own to put the Bears back in front. Neither team could get much breathing room until Baylor broke open the set with a 4-0 run capped by a Pressley back-row kill at 21-17. The Bear offense surged late in the set, hitting .364 across the first frame, with Avery Skinner going cross-court to kill and take the first 25-19.
