AMES, Iowa - Two big opportunities await the Iowa State volleyball team on their final matches of the regular season, as ISU heads to Waco to take on No. 7 Baylor on Friday and Saturday. Both matches against the Bears will be at 6 p.m.

Iowa State got a 1-1 split against Kansas State last weekend at Hilton Coliseum, taking the first match on Thursday in four sets before falling to K-State in three on Saturday. In the win, Iowa State's attack was led by 17 kills from the returning Eleanor Holthaus, while Avery Rhodes came off the bench to fire 12 kills at .409 hitting in the Thursday victory.
Baylor, No. 7 in the AVCA Top 25 and winners of nine of its past 10 matches, enter this weekend's contest at 16-5 overall and 10-2 in Big 12 play, one match behind Texas for the league lead. The Bears handed UT its only loss of the season on Nov. 6 in Waco. The Bears are coming off a 2-0 weekend at TCU, but had to earn it, winning in four on Friday and coming from behind to take the Saturday contest in five sets.Â
As it has been for many years, the Baylor attack is led by Yossiana Pressley, with the 2019 National Player of the Year averaging 4.70 kills per set at .294 hitting. She leads a potent pin attack that includes another First Team All-American in Avery Skinner, with the grad transfer from Kentucky averaging 3.83 kills per set at .279 hitting. The Bears boast a strong block which averages 2.66 stuffs per set, led by middle Kara McGhee's 1.22 stuffs per set.Â
Iowa State and Baylor will be meeting for the 53rd and 54th time this weekend, with the Bears leading the all-time series 28-24. The Bears have won the last eight meetings, taking both meetings in Ames last season 3-0. Iowa State's last victory in the series did come in Waco in 2016 in five sets.
