Iowa State Matches Best Start In School History

COLUMBIA, Missouri - Iowa State matched the best start in program history with a 4-1 win against Memphis on Saturday afternoon.
The Cyclones improved to 7-0 with the victory, tying the previous best start in 1973-74, the program's inaugural season.
Iowa State started strong by securing the doubles point for the sixth time in seven matches this season. Thasaporn Naklo and Miska Kadleckova won 6-3 at the top slot, giving them their sixth win together this season. Maty Cancini and Ting-Pei Chang teamed up in the third slot and picked up a close 7-6 win in a battle with Josephine Cao and Sophie Abrams to earn the first point for the Cyclones.
Cancini faced off against Teixido Garcia in singles and won a thrilling three-set battle at the two slot. Christin Hsieh's match also went the distance, but the sophomore came out victorious after winning 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 over Laura Bente from Memphis. Freshman Miska Kadleckova pushed her undefeated singles record to 7-0, making quick work of Alisha Reayer and securing the clinching fourth point for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones will have a chance to break the record for consecutive wins to start a season on Sunday when they face Missouri at 1:00 PM.
