Last time out, Iowa State beat Louisville, 4-3, in a thrilling comeback performance that pushed the Cyclones record to 6-0, matching the second-best start to a season in program history.
With a win against Memphis, the Cyclones will match the 1973-74 team for the best start in school history.
THE SCHEDULE
Saturday, Feb. 13 - 1:00 PM
Iowa State vs. Memphis
Sunday, Feb. 14 - 1:00 PM
Iowa State vs. Missouri
Matches will be played at the Mizzou Tennis Complex in Columbia.
THE SERIES
This will be the second all-time meeting between Iowa State and Memphis. Iowa State won the first match on the road in 2016, beating the Tigers 4-1.
Iowa State will face off against its former conference rival, Missouri, for the first time since 2012. This will be the 42nd meeting between the two schools, Iowa State leads the series 21-20. Of their 21 wins against the Tigers, seven of them came on the road in Columbia.
UNBEATEN UNDERCLASSMEN
Iowa State has a very talented, young roster and they've showcased that on the singles court this season. There are five underclassmen with undefeated singles records so far this season. Thasaporn Naklo, Chie Kezuka, Miska Kadleckova, and Sofia Cabezas are all 6-0 while Ting-Pei Chang is 1-0.
CLUTCH KEZUKA
Kezuka is earning a reputation in Ames as the Cyclones clutch closer. As Iowa State was tied with Louisville, 3-3, it was up to Kezuka to come from behind in the third set to win the match for the Cyclones and keep their unbeaten record intact. As she's done before, Kezuka delivered.
Chie was also called upon last year in a similar situation. With the score tied 3-3 against instate rival Iowa, Kezuka was playing the final match. Much like last weekend, she had lost the first set but battled back to force a decisive third set. She went on to win that set 6-1 to give the Cyclones their first win over the Hawkeyes in 44 years.
With her win last weekend, Chie earned a spot in the Cyclone record books as she's now in fifth place all-time in wins at the No. 5 singles slot.
